kelly-wearstler legends lcdq; kelly golightly

It’s LEGENDS week! And while I can’t wait to check out the windows and hobnob with design’s finest at the storied power lunches and galas, here is what I’m most excited about at LEGENDS.

Meeting Kelly Wearstler

I’ve had a major style crush on Kelly Wearstler ever since first being introduced to her on Bravo’s Top Design. After that, I fell down the Hollywood Regency rabbit hole by gobbling up all of her books, shopping her fashion line, staying at the hotels she designed: The Viceroy Palm Springs (our fave magical little spot in Palm Springs); The Avalon (our home away from home when we used to visit LA before we lived in LA). In fact, Kelly Wearstler is probably to credit for my love of Palm Springs and what led us to buying our dream house here. Not only is Kelly Wearstler beautiful, forward-thinking and bold, she’s a wife, a mom and the world’s coolest designer. She’s also from South Carolina, where I lived for four years, so I’m really interested in how she went from small town girl to the design world’s It girl.

Meeting Dara Caponigro (again)

I first had the pleasure of meeting Veranda magazine’s editor-in-chief Dara Caponigro at the House of Windsor. I was honored to get a personal tour from Dara herself of the stunning show house designed by Windsor Smith (that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have since purchased). It was a pinch-me moment and day, as I got to hang with my favorite Million Dollar Decorator, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, too (remember our prom pose?), and Windsor Smith told me that the article I wrote about her for Rue Magazine (page 166) was her favorite article ever written about her (stick a fork in me, I’m done!). But back to Dara… Dara Caponigro was one of the visionaries and founding editors behind Domino magazine, which remains until this day my favorite magazine of all time. And she’s done amazing things at Veranda too. She’s an inspiration and a living legend, so I can’t wait to celebrate LEGENDS at the Finale Party hosted by Dara Caponigro.

Meeting Domaine Founder Mat Sanders

Are you as excited about the launch of Domaine as I am? As a huge fan of Who What Wear, I’m thrilled that they have just launched the home decor sister site Domaine. Editorial Director Mat Sanders will be giving a talk, along with Ronda Carman and Martyn Lawrence Bullard (daaahling!), and I’m excited to hear more about the vision behind and for Domaine going forward. You can sign up for the Domaine event here.

Meeting YOU

As an official ambassador of LEGENDS, I’m looking forward to meeting all of you design lovers at the blogger breakfast on Thursday morning. Please come say hi and share a croissant!
