Well, Isn’t That Special?

Okay, first, let’s acknowledge how bizarre it is that I’m on the cover of a magazine. The second one this month. Life is weird. But wonderful! In this case and the case of Locale Magazine, these came about because of my unadulterated love for Palm Springs.

What can I say? When I love something I can’t shut up about it (hence this blog) — and we all know I love Palm Springs. It’s my spirit place, after all.

Where’s your spirit place?

Diablo magazine is the magazine of the East Bay (San Francisco’s East Bay that is), which is extra fun because we used to live in San Francisco. Hello, San Francisco friends, old and new!

A few of you in the Bay Area have sent me shots of this cover “in the wild.” It’s so fun to see the magazine in your grocery stores and offices. Thank you! I’m honored to represent Palm Springs. And thankful for the kind words written about me in this article.

“Modern Mavens // Kelly Lee
Palm Springs’ “unofficial ambassador” (and Diablo’s February cover subject), Lee is an Instagram influencer who spreads the desert-chic gospel via her lifestyle blog, Kelly Golightly. The website—which covers fashion, design, and entertaining (among other subjects) and has drawn praise from the likes of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart—casts Lee as a modern-day Audrey Hepburn, drawing from her background as a style editor. So significant are Lee’s taste-making powers, in fact, that the Modernism Week team selected her desert estate as its 2017 show house.”

Thank you to Virginia Shannon, who wrote the feature!

The article, entitled Palm Springs: An Oasis of Modern Style, has really great recommendations on what to do and see in Palm Springs, so I hope you check it out!

Proud Wife

I’m really proud of Fred Baby, as this is now his sixth cover he’s shot for a magazine. That’s crazy! Not to mention, the Slim Aarons Poolside Gossip reunion photo that was featured in The New York Times.

For something that started as a hobby, I’d say he’s done pretty well. 🙂 And we’re shooting another cover together this week!

Be sure to follow him @fredbaby13 on Instagram!

He’s definitely the angel to my devil. 😉

Funny Backstory: The Devil Is In the Details

When I was in college, my best friend Melissa and I were at an event. She spotted a friend and when he introduced himself to me, he said in properly accented Spanish “Hi, I’m Miguel Angelo Romero.” To which I immediately replied, “Hi, I’m Kelly Lucifer Lee.”

Maybe you had to be there, but we still laugh about that until this day.

So when I found out that my actual face might be on the cover of a magazine named Diablo, Melissa was my first call. I said, “It’s official, I’m the devil!”

If you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

Have a great day, friends!

Love xo, Lucifer

p.s. Could it be…Satan?
