I had a blast celebrating Fashion’s Night Out with Citizens of Humanity and Paul Mitchell in New York. Along with fashion bloggers Sydne Summer of Sydne Style and Kristen Turner of Glitter ‘N Glue, I partnered with Citizens of Humanity for a night of shopping and party-hopping around Manhattan in our waxed denim skinny Leatherettes.
Here is what I wore, what we did & who we spotted along the way (you won’t believe it!)…
The evening began at Raika Studio, a Paul Mitchell salon, where we were treated to scalp massages and blowouts courtesy of Paul Mitchell (thank goodness because New York was as humid as I’ve ever seen it and making myself look presentable would have taken blood, sweat and many tears).
It was fun to sport a retro-inspired ‘do for the evening (very Mary Tyler Moore!).
We each selected a pair of Leatherettes in our favorite hue and then styled them our own way. I fell for the boulder pair (a perfect grey) and plan to wear them all fall and winter long (they have stretch so are super comfy).
After a quick photo shoot with Fred Baby, we were chauffeured uptown to Bergdorf’s where we sipped mini Sofia champagne, nibbled bitesize cupcakes, swathed ourselves in feather boas in the photo booth, and some of us even danced with drag queen DJ extraordinaire Lady Bunny.
We also dubbed ourselves The Leatherettes (don’t we sound like a band from the ’80s?).
Next, we headed downtown to the Meat Packing District where we hit up Scoop and The Face / Blackbook Magazine / Oxygen party at the Gansevoort. We were bummed not to see Naomi Campbell, but we did spot Rachel Zoe’s former assistant Taylor Jacobson dancing on the tables. (She has a new show coming out called Hollywood Unzipped…I will be watching, how about you?).
Of course, the most exciting celeb sighting of the night was passing the woman, the myth, the legend herself as we teetered on the cobblestone streets of downtown New York…Anna Wintour. (I know.) Talk about a New York moment!
Thank you to Citizens of Humanity and Paul Mitchell for a night to remember.
What I wore:

Such a fun Fashoion’s Night Out! I think the Leatherettes need a repeat in LA 😉
I thought of Mary Tyler Moore as soon as I saw you. haha
You all looked great in your Leatherettes …and it looked (and sounded) like you had a fun time in N.Y.
Kelly it look s like yo had a wonderful time! You Leatherettes look great on you. I may just need a pair myself. Citizen makes some of my favorite jeans anyway. I’m so sorry we didn’t get to connect in NYC but hopefully it will happen soon than later. And yes… I’ll be watching 😉
