My Family Room Mood Board for Modernism Week #kellygolightly #modernismweek #westelm

I’m so excited to be designing the Family Room in the Modernism Week Show House! And wanted to share a sneak peek of my mood board and a few pieces I’ll be using, many from West Elm’s New Modern collection.

My Mood Board for the Modernism Week Show House Family Room

While my style is typically ultra colorful, I also love to use lots of whites and neutrals for my main pieces to ground the space. Also, I play up the the color and pattern with accessories which can easily be changed out over time.

I don’t know if you’ve seen West Elm’s New Modern collection, but let’s just say my heart went all aflutter when I first laid eyes on it. French modern was the first thing that popped to mind. A bit softer and more feminine than what typically comes to mind when you think of mid-century modern, but still Fred Baby-approved.

And knowing that many of the other rooms in the Modernism Week Show House will be going a bit bolder (which is exciting!), I wanted this space to feel a little quieter, but still very Golightly, if you will. Like a breath of fresh air, but with a few signature pops!

Without giving away too much, here are some pieces that caught my eye and just may be showing up in the Family Room, or the Glamily Room as I am calling it. Just because we may eat on our coffee table in front of the TV every night like animals, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be glamorous.

GET YOUR TICKETS to come see my room + all the other tastemakers’ rooms at The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House in person at Villa Golightly.

It’s resented by Traditional Home and California Home + Design magazines. Also, it’s the #1 event to see at Modernism Week! Come celebrate with us and help raise approximately $100,000 for architectural preservation, education and neighborhoods in Palm Springs!

All sources will be noted in the final reveal of the room.
