One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

Glory glory hallelujah, the day is finally here! It’s the BIG REVEAL of our One Room Challenge makeover! I’ve got pictures galore of the Carpe Creative Studios transformation + can’t wait to show you so let’s get to it, shall we?

BEFORE PICS

But first, a quick reminder of the blank loft space BEFORE

Okay, now that we’ve refreshed our memories….let’s see the after…drumroll please….

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

 Ta-da!

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

I really really LOVE how it turned out and hope you do too!

The Goal + Approach

This really is a study in how you can take a blank industrial space and transform it into something that feels luxurious, glamorous and creative by using a mix of aspirational and accessible brands, vintage and modern.

But also being careful that it’s a rental space…so you don’t want to do anything too permanent with things you can’t take with you…

Okay, we basically have four zones…

ZONE 1: Credenza + Chairs

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

So let’s start with the first zone and the star of the room — this credenza from SCOUT. She is both the star and the anchor of the room. The splurge piece that says I have arrived and I mean business.

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

She is topped with this gorgeous crystal lamp from Couture Lamps, which feels like the perfect earrings that make a look complete.

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

The art is a mix of work Kristen has created at CarpeCreative (baubles for breakfast!) + this incredible Shade Squad print, where we found lots of inspo for accent colors and accessories in the room.

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

The rug is by Justina Blakeney for Loloi rugs and guided much of the jewel-tone color palette for the room as well. Odee found it be extremely comfortable and she is VERY discerning.

Here’s a close-up of the rug. I love the cool blue and lavender hues and how the subtle magenta pops feel like bougainvillea petals.

Speaking of close-ups, can we talk about these chairs?!

Another unexpected gem from…wait for it…Lamps Plus!

Green velvet is always a good idea. As is any form of leopard. This pillow is by SWD Studio and I love how the blush pink picks up the pink tones in the rug.

But I also love these more traditional leopard-print pillows.

Do you have a preference?

How about for how the chairs are oriented in the room? We loved them both ways, so shot them both ways.

ZONE 2: Table + Art

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

Let’s shimmy on over to the second area of the room, the table area, also know as Kristen’s desk. She ended up finding the table here and we were SO happy to find these Paris bistro chairs at Frontgate.

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

I love the navy hue and how it picks up the navy in the rug and wall color.

Can we also shout-out these flowers? Kristen whipped these up like she does every weekend (advantages of living close to the LA Flower Mar!t).

One Room Challenge Spring 2019: The Big Reveal!

She didn’t want to go the traditional desk and desk chair route, hence this more collaborative set-up that feels like you’re at a French cafe.

Now let’s talk art! All of these pieces are from Minted. I chose copper and brass frames to play up the luxe element and also so these prints would pop off of the inky blue-black wall.

The frames make it feel like jewelry and also pick up on the gold lamp on top of the credenza.

I went for a mix of flora and art with words that paid homage to Carpe Creative:

Neon Carpe Diem print  | Open Crazy Late print |  Bright Bougainvillea print | Layers of Green print

ZONE 3: Bench + Board

room makeovers

Okay, let’s prance on over to the bench & board area, shall we?

room makeovers

Kristen’s main objective for this corner of the room was to have a moodboard where she can collect and display inspiration.

But we didn’t want this area to feel undone or too empty. Which is where these benches and mirror come in.

The beautiful pink velvet tufted bench  is from HomePop. And the golden arched mirror is from West Elm.

That mirror adds such a glam factor and makes the room feel bigger and more dynamic. Benches like this (this navy bench one is also from HomePop) are perfect for filling in empty spots along a wall where you don’t want bulkier furniture taking up space.

And plant stands like this are great for filling in corners and adding life to a space. Ditto the gold watering can.

p.s. You can find that Girls Girls Girls neon sign here, which adds a cheeky element.

Sidenote: I love the pink spotted pillows from SWD Studio here! They pop so perfectly against the navy bench, don’t they?

ZONE 4: POUF + PLANTS

room makeovers

Okay, let’s head to the final corner of the room…

room makeovers

This spot is basically behind the main door when you open it and between the door to the adjoining studio space.

room makeovers

Since it’s not a large space, it didn’t call for much, but it still deserved the same care and personality of the rest of the room, hence the basket full of disco balls, the pink ottoman from HomePop, the magazine rack (similar) and that chic little pink decanter from Now House by Jonathan Adler.

FINAL THOUGHTS

room makeovers

 What do you think?

Do you have a favorite area or piece? I’d love to know!

I really hope you love it as much as I do, and even more so, I hope it’s a space Kristen loves and will thrive in.

CHEERS + THANKS!

Cheers + huge thanks for your support and for following along! BIG THANKS for the support of our generous sponsors, without whom this room makeover would not have been possible!
