Steven Alan, designer of choice for the New York hipster set, was certainly having a ’70s moment while designing his Fall 2011 collection. Gone were the plaids and gingham he’s made prevalent over the past years. In its place: flower child pants, chubby stripes, ankle-grazing straight dresses and skirts, Annie Hall pant suits and even some velvet and slightly incongruent leopard spots.
And hats. Expect lots and lots of hats next fall, and sweatpants as daywear to stick around. Steven Alan has always known what the downtown New York set wants. Do you think he got it right with this collection?
