Death Valley. July. 124 degrees. What was I thinking? Let’s just say walking into and onto 124-degree sand in sandals is not your best option. I wore my new favorite DV by Dolce Vita Moon sandals with dark brown soles and hopped along like a Mexican jumping bean until my treasure of a hubby offered a piggyback ride to the car. He may have also tossed me onto his back in a hurry when he saw my alabaster white legs turn to lobster red in the span of less than 60 seconds. I love the sun. It just doesn’t love me back. The upside? I’m sure I got my daily requirement of Vitamin D.
Hat: J.Crew
Specs: Fossil
Tank: Esprit
Top: Trina Turk (technically a bathing suit cover-up, the airy floatiness saved me from heat stroke)
Ring: J.Crew
Bracelet: Unknown
Shorts: Express (I swear I have on bottoms, they’re just quite short, living up to their name)
The sand dunes of Death Valley are incredible. Perhaps a winter visit would be better suited to hiking and making sand angels.
The low point? Literally standing at the lowest point in the U.S.
Skipping down the lowest road in the U.S. This time with L.A.M.B. tennies. Sandal-lesson learned.
