A HAPPINESS + WELLNESS CHALLENGE
I hope you’ll join me on a simple wellness challenge.
We all have a tendency to start conversations over something usually negative that we can commiserate about. And while there is likely some biological/sociological reason (bonding, relating, venting), I want to make more of an effort to focus on the positive. So I’m hoping you might join me in this challenge. Whenever you start a conversation, be it in person or on the phone, ask the person to tell you one good thing. And be ready to share one good thing too. It’s a great small practice to rewire your brain towards the positive.
I’ve been listening to Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, and it’s clearly starting to have an effect. It’s a little heady, but in the end I think it’s essentially using the power of visualization to change your life for the better.
When I read The Miracle Morning, and actually followed through with the practices (which I HIGHLY recommend), I saw visualization work before my very eyes (read more here + here).
Before the book, I had become agoraphobic, afraid to leave my house, and we couldn’t make it the car past Palm Springs city lines. After a week or two of visualizing myself happily riding down a dirt road in the middle of the desert, I actually found myself doing it in real life.
That book really changed my life for the better.
As with all things, it’s a matter of practice and creating new habits. And it’s something I’m working on again. Dispenza’s book really delves into the science of rewiring your brain, while The Miracle Morning is more simplistic. But in the end, the proof is in the pudding, and whether you want to know the why behind why something works, or could care less as long as it works, the fact is IT WORKS.
Fred Baby often jokes that I’ve manifested everything good in our lives, and he’s actually not wrong. It’s very “The Secret” which I never actually watched or read, but got the concept of – but I have spent a lot of time manifesting certain things in life and then having them happen. Of course, it’s not just thinking I want XY or Z, it’s then taking steps towards it, but it works. Have you found this to be the case too?
Okay, this post has taken a few tangents, but I’d love for you to…
TELL ME ONE GOOD THING
Tell me one good thing!
My one good thing:
It’s only 88 degrees in Palm Springs today so I sat outside with Odee, had breakfast, and enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeder and one yellow butterfly fly around and enjoy their day. There’s always just one yellow butterfly, and I call it Grandma because I think of my Grandma Mary every time I see it.
Have a wonderful day xo!
