Best Dressing Rooms: Love this changing room in Kelly Golightly's home #VillaGolightly.

Sometimes it’s the smallest rooms where you can have the most fun (as exhibited here) and in the case of our Trina Turk-inspired Changing Room, that was precisely the case. Take a look at how Kristen Turner of Miss Kris Creative transformed our closet of shame into a sunny, glamorous spot for guests to change into their swimsuits before hitting the pool!

This small 6 ft x 6 ft space was once our closet of shame. It’s off of the Glamily Room and directly across from the Pool Bath. It had old brown carpet, white walls and one hanging rack for clothing. We didn’t initially plan on giving it a makeover, so it was filled to the brim with boxes and was basically being used as makeshift storage.

But as The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House inched closer to making its debut, and we knew we would be hosting a Trina Turk + Mr. Turk fashion show in our backyard (as one does), this room was screaming for a makeover.

Luckily, I knew just the person to call — creative director and DIY queen Kristen Turner of Miss Kris Creative.

Trina Turk Dressing Room: See how we channeled the Trina Turk Palm Springs dressing room into a yellow changing room at #villagolightly.

The inspiration for the room? The Trina Turk Palm Springs dressing rooms. I’ve always loved the bright yellow wallpaper and how it feels like you’re stepping into sunshine.

So, Kristen channeled that spirit and selected this amazing graphic yellow wallpaper.

It was perfect! She also fashioned these DIY lucite hooks for a jewel box touch (DIYS here).

In addition to a simple modern white mirror (not pictured), she added a navy velvet bench as the perfect perch to slip out of your shoes and into your swimsuit.

A few statement pillows, Stanton carpet, a fabulous lighting fixture, and a framed print by Kim Genevieve of me with Dolly (Kim’s sweet fur baby) and the room went from utter despair to utterly delightful!

Do you love it too? I hope this might inspire you to rethink a neglected space in your home and imagine the possibilities. Thank you Kristen for this sunny space and for making a room with no natural lighting one of of the brightest most cheerful rooms in the house!
