Election stress (or results) have you plotting your escape? No matter if you’re Team Red or Team Blue, there’s always talk of, “If so and so wins, I’m leaving the country.” Which got me thinking: Where would I move, if I didn’t live in the United States? If you were to move to another country, where would you go and why? I’m so curious… My top picks below!
Which Country Would You Move To?
Here are our top contenders on where we would move to and why…
Vive La France or Italy
Fred Baby and I always say it’s a toss up between the South of France (Provence and the French Riviera – a dream!)… OR Italy (we love Rome and Capri/The Amalfi Coast).
Both France and Italy are so beautiful, have the best food in the world and you feel like you’re living in a movie.
Switzerland
But, I also think Switzerland is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places I’ve ever been. Bonus that Fred Baby speaks German too. It might be a little too quiet though.
But if it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn, it’s certainly good enough for me.
South America
We also loved our time in Valle de Uco, Argentina, not far from Mendoza, Argentina’s famous wine country. The mountains, the vineyards, absolutely stunning and peaceful too. Plus, wine!
Mexico
We also loved our time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It’s so vibrant, the buildings are so colorful, the people are so warm, there’s a wonderful art and design scene, plus it’s very affordable.
Bonus: It’s only a 3.5 hour direct flight from Los Angeles and it’s not too far from family.
Which Country Would You Move To & Why?
How about you?
Is a Caribbean island calling your name?
Or perhaps somewhere with a lot to explore like Japan? My niece it dying to go to Tokyo…
New Zealand? Australia? Spain? Greece? Singapore? South Africa?
The best hidden town in Europe?
Have You Ever Moved To Another Country?
Have you ever picked up and moved to another country, either temporarily or for good? I’d love to hear!
Perhaps, it was to come TO America.
America The Beautiful
And to be clear, this is in no way bashing the USA, just a fun game, because warts and all, I do feel extremely lucky to live here.
But it IS fun to dream of alternative lives, isn’t it?
Yesterday, we decided with our French-Canadian friends, that we would all move to a farmhouse in Provence, cook all day, drink and make art. Very Paul and Julia Child (more pics of Julia Child’s summer home here).
A girl can dream, right?
Now Tell Me…
Let me know below in the comments where you would move to and why!
p.s. What’s your spirit place?
