Kids Room Makeover with Minted Murals
First, a peek at the before…
Joy gave this room a major makeover for the Show House, which we loved. But, being bitten by the constant redecorator bug, I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit for when the kiddies (our nieces and nephew) come to visit Villa Golightly for the holidays.
I didn’t want to do anything too drastic because we loved the room as it was, but just wanted to tie the outside in a bit more with the inside to enhance that Palm Springs vibe. Outside is a patio with cacti + I always wanted to add some cacti to the room, but that’s not exactly pet or kid-friendly. #ouch
So when Minted reached out to tell me about their new wall murals, + I saw this Cacti mural by Alexandra Dzh, I thought PERFECT!
Here’s how we gave this room a little makeover in just a few short hours:
STEP 1: We prepped the wall. We removed the gold dots + cleaned the wall with a damp cloth to remove any dust/dirt.
STEP 2: We moved the furniture out of the way. Hmm, guess that should have been step 1, but you do you!
STEP 3: We hung the mural panels.
They are basically like giant stickers, so you just line them up where you want them + remove the backing. Peel + stick!
Tip: Smooth out any air bubbles with a credit card. The murals work best on smooth, clean walls. This Cacti mural by Alexandra Dzh has a white background, so it worked perfectly on our white wall.
STEP 4: We moved the furniture back, admired our work and high-fived!
You know it’s a good project when it doesn’t end in tears!
Ta-da! Here’s how it looks AFTER!
Super cute, right?!
We also traded out the nightstands for these white ones and placed the TV across from the bed, which, frankly, is something we should have done months ago.
Now it feels more like a Palm Springs retreat!
I can’t wait for the kiddos to come see it. Odee, our daughter, already gave it her stamp of approval. 🙂

How great is it that the unique artwork created by Minted’s community of independent artists is now available on removable mural panels?
