New York Fashion Week was filled with pinch-me moments (twirling above the New York skyline at the BCBG/Herve Leger after-party, hanging out backstage with Daisy Fuentes, Whitney Port and Sanya Richards-Ross, being photographed by Elle and Refinery 29, sitting front row at Herve Leger across from Petra Nemcova, Cheryl Tiegs and Taylor Jacobson…and seeing Taylor dance on tables, running into Robert Verdi and THE Anna Wintour), but one of the most magical moments occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Here’s what happened and what I wore for the moment I’ll never forget…
Fred Baby and I were thrilled to have a leisurely afternoon on our own…
We took a long stroll through Central Park…
Visited the spot where we got married…
Had an indulgent lunch at Rosa Mexicano and then headed to Lincoln Center to people-watch and take in all of the action happening outside of Fashion Week.
As we were standing around observing what everyone was wearing (my favorite part of Fashion Week!), a red balloon floated over to me.
Rather, it uncannily made a low beeline for me, as if it was Ryan Reynolds and I was a breathing blonde.
It was so strange how it zoomed right at me – its red face came eye-to-eye with my awestruck mug, the conspiracy theorist in me suspected that it was bugged or remote-controlled.
I looked around to see if la balloon rogue belonged to anyone, but alas, it did not. I happily became its owner for the next few moments and Fred Baby captured it all on film.
While he was snapping pics of me with my new best (balloon) friend, suddenly photographers began to surround me: the girl with the red balloon.
It was my own little Sartorialist moment.
What I Wore:
Zara skirt (old but similar here and here); SwayChic blouse; Dolce Vita sandals (old but similar here); Kate Spade clutch (old but similar here); LOFT bracelet c/o; House of Harlow bracelet; Kristen McCloud cuff (similar here); Cynthia Rowley scarab ring (on sale here!); Nail Art orange and plum nail polish c/o Spoon Sisters; Revlon ‘Siren’ lipstick

Ohh Ballon Rouge. Fun times!! I thought the way the photographers scowled at me when I got close to “their” shot was pretty funny. Guess I better get used to that. 🙂
What a great story! Definitely script material. I LOVE the picture of the balloon all by itself. Great job FB/BK! Your little story made me feel like I was sitting next to you on the couch, sans a nutella filled crepe. So sad! Miss you both! LOVE…BIG LOVE…from Texas!
Ballon Rouge. So genius. And so perfect with your outfit!
On a side note, did you see the people photo bombing behind you? Man with itty bitty shorts, woman with turquoise leg warmers?! Fashion week is so crazy.
love it. you are a natural star! love reading all your blog posts!
What a cute outfit!!! No wonder everyone wanted to take your picture.
The guy beside you with the short shorts, needs to rethink his wardrobe!!!! haha
Sounds like you and Fred Baby had a lot of fun in New York.
