Been thinking a lot about blooming lately. We always hear you don’t get the rainbow without the rain. But I’ve always taken that as the rain is something we must endure to get to the good stuff. But I had a real aha moment recently.
I was listening to Leandra’s Man Repeller podcast, Monocycle. She was interviewing the female artists who helped design the latest Gucci fragrance, Bloom. In a conversation about what blooming meant to her, one woman talked about how you need the sun and the rain to bloom.
It was a barely imperceptible difference but a huge mind shift. The rain isn’t just something to endure, but actually something NEEDED for us to bloom.
My takeaway?
To attempt to embrace the rain — not to simply endure it — as those rainy spells in life help make us whole and beautiful. They nourish us.
Reminded me of Joanna’s great post on Wholeness vs. Happiness.
If you’re going through any rainy or stormy spells in your life right now, I hope you may find comfort in this idea. I know I did.
Have any aha moments lately?
